An Update Regarding COVID-19

We would like to reassure our families that Bergeron’s will continue to remain open to serve our communities during this time of uncertainty. We are striving to keep our community, our families, and our staff safe.

The government has taken measures to limit public gatherings to very small groups, and we are trying to ensure that the number of people entering the funeral home remains within those guidelines. We ask our families to please call before coming in, so we can provide you with information and options in regards to the funeral arrangement and safety for all.

Thank you,

From all of us at Bergeron Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd.

I was thinking about college last night and reflecting on some of the people I went to school with, wondering what they were up to. So sadly, googling Jason is what led me here. Jason is one of the most memorable people from those Conestoga days. His personality was as big as his heart. He was one of the most genuine people I've ever met, who was always himself no matter what. He was always the nicest person in the room, always there for you when you needed someone, and he valued laughter. He was quirky and silly, had an infectious personality, and enjoyed being outrageous, and he could laugh at himself when the rest of us took ourselves too seriously. The last time I saw him was when he was at Laurier, and recovering from something personal. I was travelling by Waterloo on my way home from work and made a point to stop in to see him. We had lunch and spent a few hours having a deep heart to heart. It was good to see him and watch all the friends he'd made come over and joke around with him. He clearly touched the people around him everywhere he went. Hindsight being what it is, I regret that we didn't keep in touch for long after that, because I've thought of him from time to time. I'm glad he was able to work in radio, a career that suited him well. I'm very sorry to his family and close friends to hear of his passing and wish you all the best. Rest easy, "Sonser".

I apologize for any typos to follow. I'm writing this on my phone in the dark at 4:30 in the morning. Jason was an intern at the radio station in Chatham when I was there in 2011. He was hard working, hilarious, and we shared a love of pop. In recent months he talked to my wife daily because they were on the air at similar times. When I would get up, many mornings I would have silly messages waiting for me that would always start out sounding very serious but end with him asking how my dog was doing. Many times I would ask. "Okay, but how are YOU doing?"  He never had a serious answer to that question. Jill was able to have longer, more serious conversations from time to time and I would find out what was happening that way. The dog Jason would ask about so often passed away on October 27th. Jill thought it was strange that Jason hadn't asked about him. Jill tried checking in with Jason a couple of times in the past several weeks on Facebook messenger and got no response. Today she looked at his profile for the first time in several weeks and we learned of his passing.Jason left an impression on me. After spending such a short time together 8 or 9 years ago, I have followed his career and listened to his show from time to time on my phone while driving to and from work and passed along job leads. He never wanted to talk about his problems, so I don't know the exact circumstances of his passing. I just hope that he is at peace and his family is aware of the positive impression he left on people. I'll miss you and your random silliness, Jason. Rest in peace.
