
Michael Arnold Hendricks 1945-2008
Michael Arnold Hendricks longtime resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia passed away on April 27, 2008 at the age of 63. Mike was born in Pouce Coupe to parents of Erdman and Helena (Hamm) on January 8, 1945.
Mike was raised on a farm in the Landry district and being the youngest of 10 children, he had many chores to do both before and after school. After completing grade 10 in Dawson Creek, he attended the Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania for 2 years. He joined the wrestling team, while finishing high school and made many lifelong friends.
Mike returned to Dawson Creek, and did various jobs including working on the WAC Bennett Dam, and doing auto body. He then went to Dawson Creek Warehousing for many years. Later, he worked at the car wash where he met a lot of people.
He met Agnes McLay in 1969, and married her in August of 1972. On December 13, 1973, Eddy was born and Jason on June 28, 1976. He enjoyed taking his family on vacations, one time traveling east to Toronto, then down to Pennsylvania. There he introduced Agnes to more of his family.
Due to health problems Mike had to quit work but was still able to take small camping trips with family and friends.
Mike and Agnes went their separate ways in 1992, and he treasured the times he had with his boys.
Later, because of increasing health problems he moved to Rotary Manor. He attended church throughout his life and was a man who valued his family and close friends.
Mike was predeceased by his parents Erdman and Helen, and brother John.
He is fondly remembered by his sons Eddy and Jason, brothers Fred (Merle) Hendricks, Ed Hendricks, Steve (Mary) Heinricks, Juste (Linda) Hendricks and sisters Betty Budlong, Ann Ohdner, Claire (Don) Peters and Ruona Asplundh, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on May 2, 2008 at the Church of the New Jerusalem, officiated by Reverend Mike Gladish. Inurnment was held in the Brookside Cemetery, Dawson Creek, British Columbia.
