Karol Anderson 1931 - 2008
Born February 20, 1931 in Rolla, B.C., to Ted and Sophie Anderson, he was the 4th of 7 children. He lived in Coleman Creek, where he attended school, completing Grade 8. To make family ends meet, he left mid year of Grade 9 to work in logging camps in the area. In 1946 he moved, along with his family, to Dawson Creek.
In 1951, Karol met Mary Lindsay, at Bud's Hall in Dawson Creek. On Sept 3, 1955, they were married in Dawson Creek and that union held true for the next 52 years. They had 2 children, son Shannon and daughter Wanda.
In the late 50's he entered into, what would become his career, that of commercial and industrial painting. This trade took him to wherever the work was - various pulp mills, refineries and The Bennett Dam.
Karol had a tremendous love of the outdoors. He would take his family camping, fishing and hiking whenever he had a chance and he remained an avid outdoorsman until the end.
He was also passionate about country music. He loved to play the guitar and sing and was notorious for remembering the lyrics to hundreds of songs.
If we were to summarize Karol's life it would be this..........despite life's hardships, he always found a silver lining in every cloud. His tenacity for life was apparent every day. He taught us, by example to never, ever give up and whatever you do in life, give it your all.
He will be truly missed by his family, wife - Mary, son - Shannon (Cindy) Anderson daughter- Wanda (Brad) Neste and grandchildren - Jordana, Shealan and Ben Anderson.
A Celebration of Life Service was held July 9, 2008 at the Bergeron Funeral Chapel, Dawson Creek, British Columbia, officiated by Peggy Bergeron.
A private family inurnment of Karol’s urn in the Brookside Cemetery followed the luncheon.
