Anthony Ollenberger -August 29, 1935-April 22, 2008

Tony Ollenberger -August 29-April 22, 2008 Resident of Goodlow BC passed away at Fort St John at the age of 72

Born in Macklin Saskatchewan, Tony was the 6th child of Valentine and Katherina Ollenberger. The family moved to Baldonnel in 1944. Tony moved to Dawson Creek BC in 1951. He worked at the lumber mill, the Dairy Pool and Wilson’s Groceries.  Tony met Joy Anderson, got married and in the next few years had son Kelly and daughters Deedee and Wendy. In 1961 Tony moved his family to the homestead in Goodlow and then out to their current home in Goodlow.

Tony was involved in fastball and curling for many years and even took up hockey, skiing and square dancing. He enjoyed evenings out just playing cards and having coffee with neighbors and friends.

Tony was a self-taught carpenter and was very involved in the building of the curling rink and the ball club in the community.

A farmer through and through, whether it was fencing, field work or feeding his cows, he loved his work. During his last week went out to sit and watch his cows. Farming was Tony’s way of life.

Family first was Tony’s motto. He was a loving caring generous man with a soft heart. He never missed a birthday, baseball or hockey game, 4-H or other event in his family’s lives. He was there for them always. Tony was married to the love of his life and favorite lady for 52 years. Joy, his children and their spouses, his 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren were always in his heart and he in theirs forever. Tony was proud of all of them.

Tony may not have been a big man in size, but to his family he was a mighty man, big in their eyes and the strongest man they knew. Though Tony suffered a lot in the last few years, he loved life and had a strong will to live. He fought hard right to the end. He made his family proud and proud they will always be of this special man that was part of their family.

Tony was predeceased by his father Valentine, mother Katherina, brothers- Peter, Paul, Frank, Eugene, Marcus, Norbert and sister Dorothy.
